#1208 I miss the Open Polytechnic Facebook Group

Posted by AmyDeerie on 06 January 2016 - 05:44 AM

Hey Team,

I am just going to be straight up, and say that I really miss the Open Polytechnic Facebook group (I cant remember its exact name) - please consider reopening it as this forum does not fill the void. This forum...theres hardly anyone here, and so I feel more alone in my study than ever. I know some courses have student-run facebook groups (my courses do not seem to), but the OP one was the best as there were so many people studying all sorts of things and it was a fun group!

Motivational quotes can give you perspective during your studies - sometimes you need to think about the bigger picture to remember why all the effort will be worth the reward!

It can be hard to keep up with what's going 'viral' on social media when you have your head stuck in your studies. These sites will keep you up to date:

Buzzfeed.com (they even have their own list of websites to waste time on)

#828 Could you be our next guest blogger?

Posted by Guest on 13 February 2015 - 12:47 AM

Could you be our next guest blogger?

You might have seen our online community blogs. We have an Open Polytechnic staff member who is studying with us and is blogging about her study journey and we have a few guest blogs from other staff members.

Now we would love to hear about your study journey. It doesn’t have to be a continuous blog, it could be a one off.

Perhaps you finding your studies are helping you in new ways at work, has changed the way you think; or your studies are going to help you achieve a goal in your professional or personal life, maybe you are a busy stay-at-home-parent juggling study and looking after a family or maybe you already have your own blog and would like to share a post with us.

Each of our students have a story and study journey to share and we want to hear about yours!

You don’t have to have blogged before, so don’t be afraid to give it a go and just see how it goes.

Flick an email to socialmedia@openpolytechnic.ac.nz if you would like to find out more.

#1579 Time wasters? Or the best thing to do yet?

Posted by Open Polytechnic on 28 October 2016 - 03:16 AM

If you are looking for something to do to procrastinate, there is no end to the number of things you can find ( even if that does include folding up the washing, or filing the spices in your pantry cupboard in alphabetical order).

In an effort to help you make the most of your procrastination time, we found some truly awesome things you can do on the Internet.

You could try do some of these quirky thingson Google. Or try your hand at this game. Is it a font, or is it a cheese?

Exercise is really important too, so if you have been sitting for a while, why not try some of these desk-bound exercises

#1455 Calling all Pokemon-Go trainers

Posted by Juniperaries on 17 July 2016 - 01:50 AM

Ok, so first of all I'm not a major player in the game yet but I'm thinking there's probably loads of fellow students who may want only 5 minutes break from their studying to boast or share anything to do with their addiction! ;) ;)

I'm not in a team yet and I didn't know it was that big of a deal until I read a bit about it. I actually wanted to be yellow for no other reason that I like the color yellow. But now, I'm thinking it has to be red or blue.  What color did or will you choose and why?

Anyhoooo, I'm going back to study :-/ Have fun and play safe trainers

#48 Textbook forum?

Posted by SarahM on 15 July 2014 - 12:06 AM

Is it possible to have a forum where we can buy/sell/give away textbooks?

Or are we allowed to use some of the already available ones such as Peer to Peer support to do this?
